CHAPTER I GENERAL PROVISIONS
Article 1(Purpose) #
The purpose of this Decree is to prescribe matters mandated by the Act on Registration and Inspection of Water Leisure Craft and matters necessary for the enforcement thereof.
Article 2(Types of operation areas) #
"Area ... prescribed by Presidential Decree" in subparagraph 7 of Article 2 of the Act on Registration and Inspection of Water Leisure Craft (hereinafter referred to as the "Act") means the areas classified as follows:
1. Surface of seawater: Any of the following areas:
a. Navigation areas designated under Article 8 (2) of the Ship Safety Act, including inland water areas, coastal areas, offshore areas, or ocean areas;
b. Limited coastal areas (referring to areas within which each water leisure craft can make a round trip within 2 hours at its maximum speed from an inland water area under item a);
2. Surface of inland waters: The entire area of the surface of inland waters.
Article 3(Exclusions from application) #
"Cases prescribed by Presidential Decree" in the proviso, with the exception of the subparagraphs, of Article 3 of the Act means any of the following cases:
1. Where the gross tonnage of a motorboat (referring to the gross tonnage under Article 3 (1) 2 of the Ship Act; hereinafter the same shall apply) is at least 20 tons;
2. Where a rubber boat falls under any of the following categories:
a. Where it can be inflated with air and deflated for folding and transport;
b. Where its propulsion engine has a power of less than 30 horsepower (or less than 22 kilowatts if power is expressed in kilowatts);
3. Where the gross tonnage of a sailing yacht (referring to one equipped with both sails and an engine) is at least 20 tons.
