ACT ON THE OPERATION OF DIRECT PAYMENT PROGRAM FOR PROMOTING PUBLIC FUNCTIONS OF FORESTRY AND FORESTS

CHAPTER I GENERAL PROVISIONS

Article 1(Purpose) #

The purpose of this Act is to prescribe matters concerning the composition and operation of the direct payment program for the promotion of public functions of forestry and forests, in order to enhance the public functions of forestry and forests and to stabilize the income of foresters and other relevant persons.\

Article 2(Definitions) #

The terms used in this Act are defined as follows:

1. The term "forestry" means forestry as defined in subparagraph 1 of Article 2 of the Forestry and Mountain Villages Development Promotion Act;

2. The term "forest" means a forest as defined in subparagraph 1 of Article 2 of the Creation and Management of Forest Resources Act;

3. The term "forester and other relevant person" means a forester as defined in subparagraph 2 of Article 2 of the Forestry and Mountain Village Development Promotion Act and an agricultural corporation as defined in subparagraph 2 of Article 2 of the Act on Fostering and Supporting Agricultural and Fisheries Business Entities;

4. The term "public function of forestry and forest" means water resource conservation, air purification, disaster prevention, recreation and healing, conservation of forest biodiversity, conservation of forest landscapes, carbon sequestration, and other similar functions;

5. The term "mountainous land" means land as defined in subparagraph 1 of Article 2 of the Mountainous Districts Management Act;

6. The term "forest products production business" means forestry involving the production of jujubes, walnuts, chestnuts, and other items prescribed by Presidential Decree on mountainous land;

7. The term "silviculture" means forestry involving the planting, tending, and management of trees on mountainous land;

8. The term "engagement" means carrying out a business at one's own expense and responsibility;

9. The term "global income amount" means the amount prescribed in Article 4(1)1 of the Income Tax Act.
