CULTURE AND ARTS EDUCATION SUPPORT ACT

CHAPTER I GENERAL PROVISIONS

Article 1(Purpose) #

The purpose of this Act is to revitalize culture and arts education, and moreover to contribute to improving the quality of cultural life of the people and to strengthening the cultural capability of the State by prescribing matters necessary for the support of culture and arts education.

Article 2(Definitions) #

The terms used in this Act are defined as follows: <Amended on Jun. 7, 2011; Feb. 17, 2012; Jan. 21, 2014; May 18, 2015; Mar. 21, 2023; May 16, 2023; Aug. 8, 2023; Feb. 6, 2024>

1. The term "culture and arts education" means culture and arts education under Article 2 (1) 1 of the Culture and Arts Promotion Act, cultural industries under subparagraph 1 of Article 2 of the Framework Act on the Promotion of Cultural Industries, national heritage under Article 3 of the Framework Act on National Heritage, and natural heritage under subparagraph 1 of Article 2 of the Act on the Conservation and Utilization of Natural Heritage, which are educational contents or utilized in the educational courses, and shall be subdivided as follows:

(a) In-school culture and arts education: Culture and arts education provided as part of courses at child care centers under Article 2 of the Infant Care Act, kindergartens under Article 2 of the Early Childhood Education Act, and schools under Article 2 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act;

(b) Non-school culture and arts education: All forms of culture and arts education, other than in-school culture and arts education, provided at facilities for culture and arts education and organizations for culture and arts education prescribed in subparagraphs 3 and 4 of Article 2 and at various facilities and organizations under Article 24;

2. The term "teacher" means a teacher under Article 21 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act;

3. The term "facilities for culture and arts education" (hereinafter referred to as "educational facilities") means any of the following facilities:

(a) Cultural facilities under Article 2 (1) 3 of the Culture and Arts Promotion Act;

(b) Facilities for youth activities under Article 10 of the Youth Activity Promotion Act;
