CHAPTER I GENERAL PROVISIONS
Article 1(Purpose) #
The purpose of this Act is to protect the rights and interests of livestock farmers and consumers and to promote the stable development of the livestock farming industry by prescribing matters necessary for the creation and operation of self-help funds for livestock farming.
Article 2(Definitions) #
The definitions of the terms used in this Act are as follows: <Amended on Mar. 23, 2013; Dec. 31, 2014>
1. The term "livestock product" means meat, milk, eggs, and other products of livestock prescribed by Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs produced from cattle, pigs, chickens, etc.;
2. The term "livestock farmer" means a person who produces livestock products in the Republic of Korea or raises livestock for the production of such livestock products;
3. The term "livestock organization" means a non-profit-making juristic person established pursuant to Article 32 of the Civil Act, which is a nationwide organization with all or part of livestock farmers as its members, and the National Agricultural Cooperatives Federation (including the NongHyup Agribusiness Group; hereinafter the same shall apply) established pursuant to Article 121 of the Agricultural Cooperatives Act;
4. The term "self-help livestock funds" means funds raised and operated with the amount paid by livestock farmers as their main financial resources in order to promote the development of the livestock industry, such as enhancing the safety of livestock products and promoting the consumption thereof;
5. The term "compulsory self-help livestock funds" means self-help livestock funds established as the main financial resources of funds compulsorily contributed by livestock farmers (hereinafter referred to as "compulsory contributions");
6. The term "voluntary self-help livestock funds" means self-help livestock funds established as the main financial resources of funds voluntarily contributed by livestock farmers (hereinafter referred to as "voluntary contributions").
