Article 1(Purpose) #
The purpose of this Decree is to designate various anniversaries, commemorative weeks, etc. organized by the Government, and to prescribe matters necessary for holding ceremonies to mark such anniversaries on a national or regional scale and events incidental thereto. <Amended on Aug. 18, 2020>

Article 2(Anniversaries) #
(1) Various anniversaries organized by the Government, the relevant ministries, the details of events, etc. shall be as specified in attached Table 1. <Amended on Aug. 18, 2020>
(2) Where the Government intends to designate an anniversary, the criteria to consider shall be as specified in attached Table 2. <Newly Inserted on Aug. 18, 2020>
(3) Where the head of a central administrative agency intends to hold a commemorative event not specified in paragraph (1) or other statutes or an event equivalent thereto, he or she shall report such plan to the State Council before implementing it. <Amended on Aug. 18, 2020>

Article 3(Commemorative Ceremonies and Events) #
Ceremonies marking various anniversaries under Article 2 and events incidental thereto may be held on a national scale, and any incidental event may be held on a weekly or monthly basis.

Article 4(Simplification of Events) #
All ceremonies marking an anniversary and events incidental thereto shall be held solemnly and inexpensively to heighten the meaning of the relevant anniversary. <Amended on Aug. 18, 2020>

Article 5(Prohibition of Other Commemorative Events) #
No government agency or public institution under the Act on the Management of Public Institutions shall organize any commemorative event on a national or regional scale, or any event equivalent thereto, except as provided in this Decree or other statutes or regulations: Provided, That exceptions shall apply to commemorative events on national holidays, and Articles 3 and 4 shall apply to such commemorative events. <Amended on Aug. 18, 2020>

Article 6(Management of Personally Identifiable Information) #
The head of a central administrative agency may manage data containing resident registration numbers, passport numbers, or alien registration numbers under subparagraph 1, 2, or 4 of Article 19 of the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act, if unavoidable for conducting affairs in relation to various anniversaries under Article 2 (1), commemorative events under paragraph (3) of that Article, and commemorative events on national holidays under the proviso of Article 5. <Amended on Aug. 18, 2020>
