Article 1(Purpose) #
The purpose of this Act is to establish courts of various levels and to determine their jurisdictions in accordance with the provisions of Article 3 (3) of the Court Organization Act.

Article 2(Establishment) #
(1) High courts, patent courts, district courts, family courts, administrative courts, bankruptcy courts, branch courts of district courts, and branch courts of family courts shall be established as described in Appendix 1. <Amended on Dec. 27, 2016>
(2) Si courts and Gun courts (hereinafter referred to as "Si/Gun courts") shall be established as described in Appendix 2.

Article 3(branch court with collegiate body) #
Collegiate bodies shall be established in the branch courts of district courts and branch courts of family courts; provided, this shall not apply to the branch courts stipulated by the Supreme Court Regulations.

Article 4(Jurisdiction) #
The jurisdictions of courts of various levels shall be determined by the following classifications; provided, where Si/Gun courts are set up within the jurisdictions of district courts or their branch courts, the jurisdictions of the relevant Si/Gun courts shall be excluded from the jurisdictions of the district courts or their branch courts for the cases pertaining to Article 34 (1) 1 and 2 of the Court Organization Act: <Amended on Dec. 27, 2016>
1. The jurisdictions of each high court, district court and their branch courts: Appendix 3;
2. The jurisdictions of patent courts: Appendix 4;
3. The jurisdictions of each family court and their branch courts: Appendix 5;
4. The jurisdictions of administrative courts: Appendix 6;
5. The jurisdictions of each Si/Gun court: Appendix 7;
6. The jurisdictions of collegiate bodies of their principal courts under district courts and collegiate bodies of their branch courts under district courts which judge cases of appeal: Appendix 8;
7. The jurisdictions of the Chuncheon District Court and the Gangneung branch court of the Chuncheon District Court which judge administrative cases: Appendix 9;
8. The jurisdictions of bankruptcy courts: Appendix 10.

Article 5(Changes in administrative districts and court jurisdiction) #
(1) In cases of change in administrative districts based on which the court jurisdiction is decided, provisional jurisdictions may be determined by the Supreme Court Regulations through consultation with the Government until permanent jurisdictions are established in accordance with this Act.
(2) Where deemed necessary for adjusting the jurisdiction of Si/Gun courts due to changes to population and number of cases, change of court jurisdictions may be determined by the Supreme Court Regulations until permanent jurisdictions are established in accordance with this Act.
