ACT ON THE STAFF OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE SERVICE KOREA

CHAPTER I GENERAL PROVISIONS

Article 1(Purpose) #

The purpose of this Act is to prescribe special cases concerning the State Public Officials Act with respect to the qualifications, appointment, education and training, service, remuneration, etc. of staff of the National Intelligence Service Korea, in light of the importance of their responsibilities and duties and the unique characteristics of their status and working conditions.

Article 2(Classification of grades) #

(1) The staff of the National Intelligence Service (hereinafter referred to as "staff members") shall be classified into staff members in special service and in general service of Grades I through IX; provided, staff members in general service shall be deemed public officials in general service under Article 2 (2) 1 of the State Public Officials Act. <Amended on Jan. 7, 2014>

(2) The classification of grades under paragraph (1) may not apply to staff members engaged in fields requiring specialized expertise and experience (hereinafter referred to as "professional official").

(3) The name of each grade under paragraph (1) by type of duties, and the field of duties, treatment, etc. of professional officials under paragraph (2) shall be prescribed by Presidential Decree.

Article 3(Staff members in fixed term positions) #

(1) The National Intelligence Service may appoint staff members in fixed term positions, if necessary, taking into account the details and specificity of its duties. <Amended on Jan. 7, 2014>

(2) The staff members in fixed term positions shall be deemed public officials in fixed term positions under Article 26-5 (1) of the State Public Officials Act; provided, the requirements and procedures for appointment, maximum service age, and other necessary matters shall be prescribed by Presidential Decree. <Amended on Jan. 7, 2014>
